I need help with an idea!
Hello everyone! I just finished chemo last week. This morning I thought about all of the ladies here that have helped me through treatment. They are scattered all over the world! I love to travel, and I had an idea. I created a quick facebook page, it's still quite bare.
My goal is to create a network and match women up with their dream destinations. We are all living a nightmare at times. Wouldn't it be nice to have a friend in a destination we would like to go? In my head I see this as an opportunity to enable women to connect with others that understand their needs and their fears and can help them get away, even if just for a little while. Help me see where this idea can go!
Please join and share my facebook page: www.facebook.com/matchingdreams
If you have a guest room (and ideally a bathroom that wouldn't have to be shared) and you would like to open your home to a women who has also dealt with breast cancer, please email matchingdreams@gmail.com so I can get my registry started. Please put "HAVE ROOM" in the subject. If you are looking to go someplace, please email with the subject "LOOKING". Either way, please also include the following information:
Name
City, State and/or Country where you live
Age
An email address where you can be contacted by me or a potential guest/host
Any other info you would like to include.
As my registry grows, I will match you guys up. I will share the emails of the matching guest and host so they can start talking and see if they would like to arrange a visit. Once a match is made, there is no obligation on either side.
I will also send out once-monthly emails letting everyone know how it's going and what type of interest has been generated. With the host's permission, I may also feature a destination every month in case it is diffucult to make direct matches, and see what type of feedback that could generate.
Flights and transportation to/from airports will be paid by the guest. If a host can help with transportation, that's a bonus. You guys can discuss meals, etc. once you are matched if this is a monetary issue.
Finally, you may not think you live someplace fabulous, but it may be a place that someone affected by cancer has always wanted to go. Don't assume you don't have a great place to offer!
Thank you!!
