I couldn't believe the following:

My sister is taking part in the"Team in Training" fundraiser.  She has been posting on her facebook page for donations.

One of the things she is including are "FUN FACTS" about Leukemia and Lymphoma to encourage people to donate.

Of course, I got on her about the "Fun Facts" terminology; told her a lymphoma or leukemia patient might hurt her if she used that terminology.

She told me that the L&L Society provided them with a sheet of facts and that the fundraising packet referred to them as "Fun Facts" to help encourage donations.

I am speechless at the insensitivity of whoever wrote the information packet.

I have asked her to take a photo of the page with the refernce to "Fun Facts" and post it.

There's nothing fun about any cancer! Using that terminology certainly wouldn't encourage me to donate!

I am a lymphoma patient and I do the LL&S Light the Night Walk every year, but haven't done the Team in Training. At the Light the Night Walk they always post the individual facts along the route. I've never seen them labeled as "fun facts" though, just "facts."

Edited to add that I've never seen them called that in my packet either. I would think this was a one-off mistake by someone new.
