Mild liver enzyme elevation...scared

Hi all...

Went to Onc for 3 month check, had lab work, he said nothing to me about it but I was handed my lab values by the receptionist along with my visit summary. As I am home I start to read the labs and saw my Alt/Ast is mildly elevated and my bilirubin is as well...what the heck? He said nothing, just rushed me out. I called my PCP and he told me to come in and he will do an ultrsound. I am out 3 months from chemo...very nervous...has this happened to anyone and it turned out to not be Mets? I went to that dark place in my head right away....HELP

I don't think this is abnormal three months after chemo.  Chemo is rough on the liver, and it will take some time for your numbers to go back to normal. You had a very, very tiny tumor and no positive lymph nodes and this is very good. But, I would get the ultrasound for peace of mind for absolute sure!  Even though you are likely fine, you really need to KNOW for CERTAIN that your liver is fine.  I think your oncologist could have been more sensitive to your worries. It will make you feel better to have this clarification. Good for you to take your health into your own hands and call your PCP!

Thank you ladies...I do have some good news! My U/S looked good...yay...and my enzymes came down...double yay...I can now breath again...although I was told there were some tiny hypodensities on my CT scan.....but my PCP just called to tell me that he was looking at my past CT's and I have had them for a few years and there were no changes...my Onc ever told me that either....time to go Doctor shopping for a new Onc...I love my PCP...now that's a great doctor....he calls all the time to go over everything...

    Thank for your support.....

Great news lelela...I know you are so relieved and were so scared. We can all relate to that. I like my ONC but the last time I had my appt her nurse comes out and says this test was fine...I am like what test...I didnt know they do a test along with bloodwork to see how the meds are doing to see if the cancer has spread. I cant believe I didnt know there was such a test. ONC didnt say anything except she switched me from Arimidex to Tamoxifen because of my osteoporsis. Does everyone have this test done by their ONC? Thanks Edwards750 for your support...can the test you are referring to be your tumor markers? I think there are a few markers they can test for...that's great that you are doing well...congrats!!!

I am looking for a different Onc though...I. Liked him at first then he became more and more rushed it seemed..and almost annoyed to take questions....I am very methodical with my questions, so I do need answers....

    Anyway..thanks again...I appreciate you listening...

    Hugs
