Hot Flashes

Options

Anyone experience bad hot flashes during the taxol treatments. I seems to be having about 3-4 during the day and then again at night. It is crazy and driving me crazy. I have no idea what I can take to combat this. Any suggestions?

I had taxotere and cytoxan but got hot flashes.  After chemo they stayed around with tamoxifen on board.  I was put on effexor and that helped some.  They are not as bad but I still have some.  It is more tolerable now.

I just Want to mention....be very careful if you decide to take anything to combat hot flashes. If the Ugly C is hormone fed (er+) then know how things are processed in the body to avoid feeding the Ugly C by accident.

Personally, I've just dealt with it for 2 years....it sucks but its better than what could happen...

Effexor (which I take--75 mg) is the only SSRI that is safe to take with tamoxifen. I was rx'd effexor when I started chemo AC, then Taxol, because my MO said it worked to allieviate hot flashes. Chemo put me into chemo-pause.  I have some hot flashes but they aren't bad and I don't have very many.

I would warn that effexor is a nightmare to get off of--you have to wean off it for some weeks and the w/d effects are a bear. I forgot to take it one day and wow did I get nauseated, ringing ears, and incredibly dizzy till I took my med.

I finished chemo on March 13, 2013.  Currently,  I do still have hot flashes which I have notice they have decreased a lot.  I now can sleep a full night without a hot flash but once I wake up BAM there it is and a little throughout the day but not how it used to be though.  I am still looking forword until it stops all together...
