Yes, I had a 9 cm Grade 1 tumor.  Did sentinel node biopsy and came out clear in two nodes.  I'm from Canada too.  They will tell you (or they told me) that the SNB is too new to rely upon, especially for large tumours, and that treatment protocols will peg you as locally advanced, not "early stage".  I still was urged to do radiation after double mastectomy and chemo.  Now on tamoxifen for five years.

Do what's right for you. I am two years out and don't regret doing all.

I hated the decision stage.  Good luck and God bless.

I had a "multitude of tumors" that spread over an 8 cm area. There was minimal nodal involvement but not negative.  Not stage 4 yet, as far as I know anyway.

Thanks.. I had needle biopsy for axilla nodes that looked suspicious on US and MRI, it came back negative and then surgery they did the SN thingy, removed the same four they did the needle biopsy on and they tested negative too. No evidence of lvi.. i know its really hard to see lobular in lymph nodes so Im worried it was missed. Not sure yet if chemo is recommended with know this week.

RDrunner...you can ask to have your slides from pathology looked at by another pathologist to ease your mind. Mine were looked at by four different pathologist at four separate hospitals. (I had a hard time moving past this issue and my wonderful PS arranged this for me to "put this issue to bed, and move forward). No one ever said ILC is hard to detect in lymph nodes to me, and with the staining of the cells, I wouldn't think it would be.

I hope you can figure out what will help you move on, it's so hard, I know.

My MO called my large (over 4 cm tumor) a "big, ole, lazy tumor".... And made it seem that a lot of ILC tumors presented themselves this way. Did you have Oncotype testing done?

Large 7+cm breast tumor stage IIB with negative SN. No other nodes were tested. Oncotype 7. Had

radiation and bilat mastectomy.  Two years out on Arimidex (which I hate but better than the alternative)

Age 70 and running and surfing.
