Hello Everyone. My mom was diagnosed back in September with Breast Cancer. She has now been through 4 surgeries and has not begun her chemo treatments. Her first surgery was to remove the cancer and a reduction. She is having difficulties with healing. She is now beginning to heal now after having to sit in a bariatric chamber for 2 hours a day. She is beginning her chemo in 2 weeks. She has decided to shave her head after her first chemo trewatment, Her DR. told her she will be losing her hair because it a very strong dose of chemo. Here is my Question...My aunt had her hair cut off and is sending it to me. I need to find out if anyone knows of a really good plaace that makes wigs out of real hair, that will not cost a fortune. I will be going through all of this with my mom, and have been doing a lot of research on her type of Cancer and just want to support her to the fullest of my abilities. This has been very hard on her, As it has for me. I am a single Mother of 5 and My Mom is my Life. She is my Best Friend, If anyone else is goinmg through this, How are you dealing with it?

Hi there! My mom is also my best friend and was diagnosed in September (on my birthday, nonetheless). It has been a really rough journey. I can't imagine going through this with 5 little ones who need your love and attention.
My first step in coping was speaking with and emailing a friend whose mother had a similar diagnosis about a year ago. She was a bit ahead of us in the process so I could rely on her for realistic expectations of treatment.
I am fortunate enough to have a flexible career, so I've been able to be there for my mom during chemo infusions and to take care of her afterward. Pouring myself into caretaking has helped. However, to be a good caretaker I have found I need counseling to help cope with the stress and anxiety that comes with cancer.
Best wishes to you and your mother.

I don't have any answers about wigs, but I can tell you I completely identify with what you are going through.
My mom is my best friend in the whole world and was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma this week. She is meeting with the surgeon next week, but the radiologist was already able to tell her it's spread to her lymph nodes. I'm sitting here feeling incredibly conflicted. I have a job that takes up all my time and am even contemplating resigning because I want to be there for my mom every step of the way. I hope to find some support here so I can stay strong for her, so maybe we can be there for each other along the way. I don't know what I would do without her.
