I am one month out from my last treatment. My skin is looking pretty good now, but I'm experiencing pain in my shoulder. I've been doing my stretches, but the shoulder isn't feeling any better, and it feels like I'm losing strength in the arm. It can feel achy and tingly by my wrist and hand by the end of the day too. I do think the muscles around my shoulder feel tighter, even though I stretch several times a day. I thought perhaps it was carpal tunnel, but I don't think it would affect my whole hand. I do not see any swelling, so I don't think it's lymphedema. I asked my RO about my shoulder when I saw her last week, and all she said was if it still hurt in a month, I should get an MRI. Seems to me that something can be done before that!

Has anyone else been through something like this? If so, what did you do to help your shoulder? I'm wondering if I need a PT?

    Thanks for any input!

Sounds like your ro needs some strong encouragement to pay attention to your plight. Start getting help from a lymphedema pt as soon as possible. The symptoms you describe happened to me and my ro was singularly unhelpful. I finally got the nurse for my mo to tell me that it was a possible sign of lymphedema in my arm and breast/torso and prescribe pt . This has helped and I suggest early attention.

Thank you, HVV. It's so frustrating to feel that our medical providers aren't more willing to address our concerns!

A local corticosteroid injection is often helpful for inflammation of the shoulder. For shoulder pain, movement exercises and physiotherapy may help. For cases in which tendons or ligaments are involved, surgical procedures may be necessary.
