Trulife breast forms

Has anyone tried Trulife Breast forms.  I'm looking at the Impressions, which are supposed to be very light and appear to be good for anyone with aging breasts.  Does anyone know of an online site that will return or exchange breast forms if the fit isn't right?  Going through a fitter is really expensive and I can bill my own issurance and get the cost covered.

    Hi Starzhere,

I tried the Impressions form at my local fitter. It wasn't quite right for me, but I think it could work well for some women (their smallest size was bigger than I wanted, since I wanted a AA cup equivalent and they don't make that; their smallest size is a 4).

The form is very light and I think it would be good for someone who wants the look of a mature breast, as its slope is more like that of an older breast. The form is different from other silicone forms in that it's not covered by a polyurethane film. It's meant to be worn against the skin if you wish, as this is how the original custom-made form was designed to be used. Because of not having the smooth film covering, it doesn't glide smoothly into a pocket but can easily be placed there. If you wear it in a bra without a pocket, it would be less likely to move around, I would think, because the silicone would grip the bra fabric better.

The form is available on several sites. One site I've ordered from frequently, which has the Impressions, is MetroMedicalOnline. They will accept returns and exchanges (I just returned some items to them yesterday.) Here's the link: http://www.metromedicalonline.com/trulife100.html. Park Mastectomy also has the forms, but they use a drop/ship system (forms are sent direct from the manufacturer) so while returns are possible, I've found them a little more complicated.

I hope this helps. Please let us know what you think if you do try the form.

    Barbara

Barbara, thanks for the advice.  I think I will call to see what size I would wear.  I'm a 34 c/d cup, so I think they'll work for me.  My current breast form is just too perky, now.

starzhere, I have the Trulife Impression forms which are the most comfortable forms I've found for me, but as Barbara mentioned I wish they came smaller.  I have one caution about the forms - they have a very wide and tall footprint and the forms don't adapt to the bra, you have to find a bra that will adapt to the forms.  The Genie Bra is the only one I've found that really works well and that's with getting an XL in the Genie Bra and only size 4 forms.  So if you go larger than that I don't know if the Genie Bra would even work for you.  I haven't worn forms in months, just have them for special occasions although I've gone to plenty of those flat too.  I just like having some here in case.  If you're going to be wearing forms on a regular basis you might want to be sure that you can find bras that work before you commit to keeping the forms.

RR, what size bra and cup do you wear?  I'm a 34C or D.

I used to be a 34D/36C and the size 4 Impressions is a little fuller across than I'd like, but it's the only silicone form I've been able to wear without pain.  But if I wore them often I'd want to find other bras and that was a problem for me when I was looking.  They do work in lots of sports bras too if you like those but as far as pretty bras I didn't find any that they fit in because of the really big footprint.  I only looked at pocketed bras at one place and they didn't have any that fit the form and me.  I looked several times at regular bras and there were some that might have worked for others but they didn't have adjustable straps and I have a long torso so they didn't work for me.  Edited to add that I can't figure out what size the forms put me at now because I can't find a regular bra that works for me.

RR, according to the chart I would need to order a size 6 for a size 32C bra.  Does that seem right from your experience?  I know you said you ordered the 4.  Other than being too big across, does it seem like it would fit a 34C?

starzhere, I would think your chest would not accommodate the width of a size 6.  The forms I have are a size 4 and they fill my chest and there is fullness on the side too.  I can't imagine fitting a size 6 on my chest.  But I didn't try on any larger sizes so maybe the footprint doesn't grow that much as the size rises, maybe the projection just changes.  I really don't know what to tell you.  My only advice would be to try to find somewhere to try them on because the fit of this form is unlike any other forms that I've had.  If you can't do that I'd try calling the phone number for wherever you plan on ordering them from and maybe they can give you some measurements of the footprint of a size 6 and you can measure and see if that would fit on your chest.

RR, thank-you for your help.  I think I'll call the place that Barbara said does returns.  I've found that when I go to the fitter, she has to hike up her price to make a profit and I end up paying out of pocket what I could buy the forms for online.  Then, I can turn my receipt in to the insurance and be fully reimbursed, instead of being out $150.

    starzhere,

If you haven't already done so, you might try to find out what the dimensions of the back of the form are in the various sizes, say 4, 5, and 6, before you order. So, if the width doesn't increase too much you might be able to order a 5 or 6 if that seems like the projection you would want. MetroMedical might be able to help you with that, or a local fitter (you could even try the forms there and then say you want to think about it), or perhaps even calling someone at TruLife for the info (maybe a challenge). Anyway, just a thought. Please let us know how it goes.

I came across this post and wanted to let you all know that Trulife came out recently with an IMPRESSIONS II that is for more shallow to average fit so the form isn't as full as the regular Impressions. The model number is 101.. :)

I haven't been on these boards in months...but was checking out info on forms earlier this week in prep for fitting today...last fitting  1 1/2 year ago I let myself be talked into forms that I ended up hating - too big and too heavy (size 7 ABC). I never wore them. I finally decided my little foam size 4's were about worn out so went today to see what would work. I left wearing the TruLife Impressions II 101. I have had them on all day and LOVE them. She showed me the 100 Impression to explain what they changed...the surface feel is different - the 100 was sort of sticky and that is why it was so difficult to fit in bras. The new 101 is smoother and easy to place in the bras. They also come with form covers which make it very simple to put in bra. They also are more "shallow" as Pink517 explained...Anyways compared to the ABC lightweights, they are still way lighter and actually seem to run much smaller. My plan was to get size 4 or 5 forms... but I ended up with 6 which is still way smaller than my size 7 ABCs. I tried the 5 first and it was actually too small. I am really excited to find something that finally seems to work for me. In fact I went shopping afterwards, trying on tops with the new forms to see how things look....I'll report back after a few weeks of wearing them. They are very pricey but I decided that they are worth it if I can finally feel comfortable. I actually like my foam forms but they slid around in my bras and I was always readjusting them...

    Hi Pink517 and Jane,

Thanks for letting us know about this new Impressions form. It's apparently so new that I can't even find it on Trulife's own website or on online mastectomy product sites.

I know what you mean about the surface of the 100, Jane--really hard to slide it into a pocketed bra or camisole. Plus, I found the 100 too full for me. So, I'm looking forward to checking this new one out.

I did a search on google and went to the Trulife website too - wierd that it is not mentioned anywhere. I know the shop I went to had a trulife rep last week for a special event so I am guessing they were rolling out the new form. It is VERY pricey - 370 per form....that was why I was online trying to see if I could find it for less $$. It sounds like they fixed the two major issues - she pointed out showing me the original and the II how the fullness had been adjusted. This morning just tried placing it without insert in a sports bra and it seems to work nicely too, adhering to the skin. I also noticed after wearing it from noon unti 8PM last night that it was NOT sweaty/hot like my other form. Even my foam form is sometimes damp after a long day here in Florida....

I also picked up a pair of Trulife Aquaflow to wear with my swimsuits...I've either been going flat or using those scrubby homemade foobs....we'll see how the aqua flow works.

Also, another thing the fitter pointed out to me is the original Trulife Impressions has little holes on the back, that tended to tear over time. On the II form, the holes are smaller/tighter to fix this problem. I am not too concerned since they come with a 2 year warranty but hopefully won't tear.

I just called my local store and the fitter there hadn't even heard of the new Impressions. Sounds as if they are either just now rolling it out, as you suggest, or maybe they're test-marketing it in selected stores. I'll definitely keep my eye out. My biggest issue with silicone forms is that sweaty/hot feeling (on one side; the other side had radiation and I don't perspire there), so if the new Impressions form helps with that, I'm really interested.

Edited to add: I just called TruLife and spoke to a customer service rep there. She said that the form should be in more stores in a few weeks and also on some of the online sites. She also mentioned that it will be offered in sizes 4 though 12. I wish it came even smaller but I'm hopeful that with the shallower fit, a size 4 might work for me.
