Recurrent UTIs on Arimidex

Options

I have been on Arimidex since May 2012 and during this time I have had 3 urinary tract infections.  I see my oncologist later this month and will discuss with him.

Anyone else having this issue?

meemer54, until more members post with their experiences, UTIs are discussed in the article Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) on the main Breastcancer.org site. The article includes suggestions for how to avoid getting them, and what to do if you do.

    Best wishes!

Meemer54, there was an ealier thread/topic called Arimidex and Bladder SE (created by PaBaba--or something like that) you might want to check out. I was interested in reading this as i had had some UTI issues --but I am on letrozole, not arimidex. I had an infection that was treated with antibiotic, but the usual UTI sensation of wanting to pee would not go away--but the doc said i had no bacteria--was driving me crazy--she thought it might be some kind of 'spasm' and prescribed oxybutynin which worked and it went away.

I have been on Arimidex for almost 2 years and right after I started using it I have had 1 UTI after the other. Is it because the body isn't making Estrogen?

I have been on Arimidex for almost 2 years and have one UTI after another. Can Arimidex cause that since your body isn't making Estrogen?

I've been on anastrozole for 8 months and had a very bad uti. Had a cysto and had several stones in the bladder. I've had utis for many years but since I've been on anastrozole they've gotten a lot worse. I'm really thinking of going off the drug...
