In Shock did not think this was going to happen happy new year. How do I get through the first few weeks without going crazy. I would like to have some tips that I may use to get through this. I did not have my meltdown but its comming. I'm going for a bone biopsy can someone tell me what to expect? Thank you Gina

So sorry this happened to you.  You'll find support from women who truly know what you are going through on the actual Stage IV board.  This board isn't as active, and I would hate for you to have to wait very long for a response.

Hi Gina, so sorry you got this news :-(. I was dx'd with spinal mets in July after almost 8 years and yes, its shocking and terrifying. Thankfully it does get easier. One that helped me a lot was ativan. I have not had a biopsy so I don't know what u can expect there, but I am taking letrozole and get an XGEVA shot once a month. I don't have any side effects and pretty much live my life just like I was before mets. I just pop an ativan when I get scared! From what I have learned they can keep out bone mets under control for years. I just assume its going to be a lot. If you go to the stage 4 section there is post titled bone mets and lots of ladies with all the info and support you need. Try not to worry too much. Things will get better.

So sorry this has happened to you. I have no expertise to add, but I send you best wishes for the challenging time ahead; it does get easier. Please join us on the Stage IV page. There are any so many women living well with this rotten disease.

    With love

I would guess that the site of the bone biopsy might make a difference, but my mom had one just 3 weeks ago on the clavicle bone and it wasn't painful. She was awake and opted not to have any type of sedative. It took only a couple of minutes and she left with a bandaid on the site. We actually went straight to the mall to christmas shop from the hospital all day. She said the only pain she felt was for a second when they took the first sample and it was not intense at all.
