Darn, I liked her character. Time for a long lost sibling to show up?

Lord Grantham pretty much can't do anything right. I've a feeling he'll be sleeping in his dressing room for quite some time.

TKSit - I think there was a hint that Tom's brother is about to appear. Now, true, it will not be a sister in those fabulous dresses. Lord Grantham makes me laugh one time, then hug him, then kick him in his private parts. But I think he is a ditz, big-time (can men be ditzes?). My PBS replays the previous week episode b4 the current one. LOVED when he said most men had normal son-in-laws who preached, farmed or were in the military. I'm glad to see the dour Mrs. Bird go, good riddance. I actually like Ethel, think she will turn out interesting. What do you think about Bates getting off? I'm thinking it's not looking so good but I'm ready for the story to conclude, drug on toooooo long.

Slate.com has the most fascinating discussion board about DA. I've spent the last hour goofing off reading it and still haven't finished it. Has discussions about each episode. Fun time waster.

Schatzi - I googled Downton Abbey and the 1st entry was "News for Downton Abbey" about the SAG awards. But just under that listing says Downton Abbey Season 3 and the source as Slate Magazine which is Slate.com.  OR  I did check it this way. I went to the Slate.com site and put in Downton Abbey season 3.  Any of the Season 3 choices will get you all 4 episodes discussions at the bottom of each episode recap/discussion. I kept clicking the MORE button at the bottom. I think I only made it thru 1 episode maybe 2 on the discussions. Hours of fun reading.

Oh after I typed this I read your last entry that you found it.  Good reading. Left this in case anyone is snowed in and wants to read.

Like I wrote b4 I have read the Spoilers.

I cannot believe that I have watched every period movie set in England that was ever made, but Downton Abbey wasn't even on my radar until a few months ago!!!

So I watched one of the new episodes, became immediately addicted, (even though I had no idea of all the backstories), and went online and ordered the entire DVD sets of Seasons 1 and 2 (full, uncut UK versions).

I see a DA marathon in my future......

Blessings - Gosford Park? Though I admit I watch it with the closed captioning on to catch the subtle conversations. I've watched bits and pieces of Lark Rise to Candleford and the one about the midwives. This will date me terribly but that last real series I think I watched on PBS was All Creatures Great and Small and the series Lillie about Lillie Langtry that had to have been on in oh the early 80s.  Also Good Neighbors.  And the other late night comedies of course. I never got into Upstairs/Downstairs. It was during my college years and have never caught it in rerun at a time when I could watch it.  Read there are 65 episodes. Wow. Know there is a 2010 re-start of it. I stumbled on Downton Abbey last Christmas (2011) when I was sick. Had something on earlier on PBS and I was too lazy to check other channels and it just came on on Episode 1.

Talking about period movies. DH loves The 3 Stooges. He had me watching some the other day just to see the furniture and decorations. Best done with the sound off. But I must admit one of our family expressions came from them. One has a girlfriend with a car and Larry says "Oh goody.  Let's go places and eat things."  I watch The Thin Man for the same thing and just about any period movie for things like that.

    A DA marathon sounds wonderful.

I also missed the first 2 seasons of DA but was able to catch up when they showed them on PBS as reruns.

Downloaded PBS.org app on my iPad. Season 3 is all available, every episode, full episodes for watching free! (as are a ton of other PBS programs, including Call the Midwifes, NOVA, Antiques Roadshow, on and on ...).

LOVE Downton Abbey! Love I found it available for the iPad so I can watch it at any time convenient for me.

Oh, but I LOVE to hate her.  I almost don't want to see her go.  I see new spoilers are out for season 4.

Ack! We just started watching Downton and have gotten through the first two seasons. I'm not sure I want to know the spoilers!

Thanks for the app tip that allows watching on the iPad. Season 3 is taking f-o-r-e-v-e-r to come in from the library so I plan to give that a try.

Without having read all of this thread yet, I must say, we were glad to see Edith developing into her own person in season 2. I'm curious where they'll take her.
