How Long Between Surgery and First Treatment?

Options

I'm impatiently waiting for a wound vac to do its job.  sigh  I had lots of infection and three procedures to remove the TEs and clean out the infection after my initial BMX on  Dec. 3. I'm happy to be home after all of that, but I'm also feeling quite impatient.

I can't help but feel like there's cancer cells floating around my body, and I want them gone!

How long did you wait until you started treatment?

Strike_Two- I started my chemo treatment about 4 weeks after my last surgery.  I had my UMX on March 14th and went back into the hospital on March 25th for emergency surgery to fix a bleeder at my UMX site.  I was released from the hospital a few days later.  My first chemo was on April 24, 2012.   I don't know if this helps you any.  Sometimes post surgical things happen and we just have to pick ourselves up and keep moving forward when that happens.  Sending you positive healing and calming prayers, thoughts and energy!!!  HUGS and hope you feel better soon!!!

I started on Letrozole (Femara generic) at one month post BMX.

Sorry for your complications... is the 'treatment' that you are anxious to begin taking chemo? Rads? Hormone therapy?

Best of luck -- sometimes you just have to breathe-through the delays... hope you are filling your time with pleasant things -- (looking at the stars, taking walks in the sun, reading a good book, taking yourself to the movies... ) This is an un-avoidable hiatus -- may as well enjoy what you can about it, and pray that the Universe had something in mind when it created the delay.

The usual wait is 6-8 weeks following surgery to allow your body time to heal and grow strong.  Use the time rest, eat healthy, and get your mind in order for the upcoming months.
