Do you Have Experience with Bone Strengtheners?

How do you feel about this?
Have you used the bone strengtheners?

I was Stage 3 ILC.
My Onc. tends to pull out all the punches that he can to keep me "cancer free"
I am grateful, but ...
these drugs all have side effects.

I participated in the Zometa clinical trial for 3 yrs.
Got the infusion.
Was grateful.  Nasty side effects.
After my latest bone scan, I'm not sure how much good it did.
Maybe it did.
I guess the chemo & maybe the Tomaxifen diminishes bone mass.
So when they did the bone scan, my bones remained nearly "stable" (not much worse)
from three years prior.

I don't exercise like I should, but I do continue to try.

I'm supposed to get a Prolia injection tomorrow (bone strengthener).
I don't want it.
I always read about the side effects, etc.
Then I read there is not a lot of evidence that it actually does much good.

So, I feel like bargaining with my Onc. & telling him I''ll go to the gym every day, faithfully.
Will it be enough?
I mean, if the other doesn't show a lot of good (unless keeping me stable is good) ...
how good is it?

I'm pretty sure my Onc. is more concerned about giving me the Prolia to keep me from having a bone metastasis, than to lessen my risk of a fracture or break, in the event of a fall.

I can deal with discomfort issues,
but a lot of the side effects are reduced immune system,
pericarditis (infection around the heart).  This is probably one that is more rare,
but if the immune system is reduced ..... how good is that?

I have an auto-immune disease ... it stays at bay most of the time, because of the medicine that I take to keep it in check.

I think my Onc. is thinking as long as that works, I'm a free candidate for these others prophylatic treatments.

I'm making an appt. before I just go in for the injection.
What do you think?
Do you take it?
Thanks!
