I would like to hear your experiences with Prolia.

I need to switch to this drug but I am scared. I have auto-immune problems. I am wondering how much this antibody will activate my immune system. Will I get pains all over.

Also in the drug manual it states that infections are common. Does anyone know what they talk about? What infections? Does it mean in general my resistence to viruses floating about is lower?

Do latent viruses in my body get reactivated.  I have frequent cold sores, that is a herpes virus in your body. Does the intake of Prolia induce a state of lower suppression of  viruses that many people have in their body? What about people who have chronic infections.

I have asked my physician to call the company but I have never heard back.

I thank anyone for comments.

Hope:  I had my first Prolia shot in July and, touch wood, I have had no illnesses or infections since then.  I don't have any autoimmune disorders.  If you're seeing a rheumatologist (or whichever specialist you see for your particular disorder), I would ask his/her opinion.

I also haven't had any pain associated with the drug.  My older sister is also on it, and has had no problems.

Drug manufacturers, after all the clinical trials the drug is put through, are obligated to state any and all side effects experienced by patients.  There is usually an indication of the percentage (eg. less than 1%, less than 5% etc.) who have experienced certain SEs.

I'm afraid there is no guarantee either way, but I must say it's SO much easier than taking Fosavance once a week!  Good luck, and good wishes for a happy holiday season.

    Linda

Hope, I read everything out there about Prolia and scared myself half to death. Especially the pain. I have terrible pain from Femara and was afraid it would get worse. After weighing all the pros and cons, I had the first injection on December 5th. So far just a little lower back pain and my scalp itches. No infections, no terrible pains, etc.

Hope this helps - feel well :)
