rakulynda- Head over to the Chemotherapy Discussion Forum and check out some of threads for those starting chemo in any of the recent fall months. Doxil which is also known as adriamycin is sometimes called the Red Devil. There is a chemo thread called Between the Red Devil and the Deep Blue sea that you can also check out.
Also check out the BCO.org main website for more information on the side effects of your particular chemo regimen. Here is the link to the chemotherapy section:
Although I did not have your chemo regimen, you may find some of these general tips helpful.
Make sure you hydrate the day before you have chemo and for the days following so you can help flush the chemo through your body. Try to eat 5-6 small meals so your tummy always has some food in it. A fed tummy is a happy tummy and may help prevent nausea. Take your anti-nausea meds on a schedule so you can stay ahead of the nausea. If you start having nausea side effects even though you are taking your anti-nausea meds, let your onco know. Don't try to ride it out. Your meds can always be adjusted; just let your onco know what is happening. As for the hair, yes, it's true. Most likely, your hair will leave. Your hair may feel drier and lifeless and your scalp may feel tender. You always have choices here with the hair---- you can buzz your head or just let it do whatever it is going to do. I cut my hair to a short boy hair cut right before my second chemo round because I just got annoyed with the falling hair being everywhere. A lint roller was helpful to get that hair off of me, my clothes, my pillow and just everywhere. I know the hair situation isn't easy and is a very very personal choice. No matter what, just remember that you are beautiful. Hope this helps a little....
Wishing you the best with the rest of your chemo. Please join one of the Chemotherapy Discussion threads to help give you that support and comraderie. You are not alone here.....!!!!

Hi Lynda,
I've had my first dose of Doxil also. My onc said he didn't think it would take my hair, but his P.A. said it would. I'm now out 20 days and hair is still strong. When I was on Abraxane, it started to fall out on day 15, so I'm hopeful.
I hope some others with Doxil experience will answer this post!

Peachy - I've heard nothing from the ladies on the boards about Doxil. I think it is perhaps an older chemo?
Funny, the literature says hair loss but my onc said, "no hair loss".
I've had 2 doxil treatments and now at day 30. No hairloss yippee and knocking on wood. If you ever want to talk about doxil or anything elss feel free to pm me.
