Already, the Cancer Genome Project has given researchers clues that both ovarian and triple-negative breast tumors could be vulnerable to drugs that block new blood vessel growth, which aim to starve tumors. Biologic therapy is on the ascendancy. The possibility of eradicating cancer by selective destruction of tumor blood vessels may represent an attractive therapeutic avenue. It's going to take combination antivascular therapy to make a difference, and a microvascular viability assay is the most promising technology on the therapeutic horizon.
