Inland Empire area of California
Hello All
I have been on these boards for about 10 months. Made it through surgery and chemo with help of all the knowledgeable people on here. But as I'm sure some of you know relationships change during treatment. I didn't have any close friends I lived close too before all of this happened. I would like to know if anybody would like to start a group offline for get togethers? Online is helpful but sometimes human contact is better. It can be just a way to get out of the house and have some fun. We all need a break sometimes

A group of us from LA and San Fernando Valley got together earlier this month. We may get together again after the holidays. We met in the Valley. How far is that from you? The thread is called Los angeles Area under get togethers forum. Look for it and introduce yourself!
-
Michelle, I'm quite a bit ahead of you -- dx'd 2/08 -- but I'd love to be included if you end up doing anything in the Inland Empire. I live near Palm Desert, and I have reason to be in Temecula two or three times a month. I've actually met several women from BCO over the past few years (including one last week when we were both in LV), and it's always wonderful sharing our stories and support. Even if you don't get a group going, if you ever find yourself headed in this direction, PM me and maybe we can get together for coffee, etc. Deanna

Thanks for the information. Will do that and hope to make the next one -
Ok I added myself to the LA group
-
Great. We'll see what happens after the holidays.
-
I'm looking forward to it
-
Michelle, I would love to join your group. I have been wanting to meet others with bc too and make new friends but havent had much luck with it yet. I have been posting online with BCO and did join a group for August surgeries 2012 and those women have been amazing. The sad thing is they are all over the United States and I probably will never have contact with them. Just probably through BCO. Let me know if you get a group together or just want to talk that would be ok too!

Yes there are lots of wonderful women on here. I'm part of the October surgery group and all are in different areas and states.
I'm looking forward to meeting up and maybe more women can join us if not two is a good number 😊

Hi! I live in Rancho Cucamonga but spend ~5 mo per year in San Felipe, Baja.
I'd like to be included in your group! I agree that the women met through these boards have been awesome....but it would be nice to meet some in person. -
Hello Jill
Glad you joined our small but growing group. Wow you have 2 homes how nice that must be.
It's only 2 of us but we are planning to get together jan 8 or 9th would that be good days for you? If not I'm usually free except for the days I have doctors appts.
Please let my know what days are good for you so we can make it happen
Michelle -
Thanks for the welcome Michelle. Unfortunately, we plan to leave on January 7th to go to San Felipe. We'll be back for just about a week in February (around the 20th), and then back for the months of May - October. So I'll probably miss your first get-together (unless you want to come to San Felipe!
......we love having company visit us there!)
.....As far as having two homes.......our main home was in San Felipe for the last seven years and we had a small condo up here to have a place for the summers near my mom (she's 82 ). After my BC dx......with all the drs. appts, tests, operations, etc. we decided we need to spend more time in Rancho Cucamonga.....but the condo was too small for us. So we bought a house, wanting to get in on a good price while real estate is low and the interest is too. Bad news is we couldn't sell our condo (underwater on the loan), so we have our home in San Felipe on the market and are renting the condo. The market in San Felipe is slow/soft......so it may be a year or more before we sell it. I LOVE it down there and would LOVE to keep our house there.....but BC changed that......oh well!

I LOVED visiting Mexico! Haven't been in years, miss visiting it. I hope I'm able to take you up on your offer once I'm done with radiation. I'm past due for a relaxing vacation!
Oh I know how BC changes plans but I like to think it just postpones them. I had plans to begin my new life since both of my daughters were in college and I'm single BC put a stop to that plan. It's ok though I will pick up where I left off before diagnosis.
If you are free and like to meet before you leave we can do that. The sooner I get to know you the sooner I can visit you in San Felipe!

Hi, Michelle!
It's getting to be crunchtime getting ready to leave....but if you could meet somewhere on the 2nd I have a PT appt in Fontana at 10:30.......maybe we could meet for lunch somewhere? Let me know.... -
Chachamom
We can wait until you get back. I know how crunch time can be stressful sometimes.
I went out last night to celebrate and going to my brothers house in long beach. I'm hungover from last night but will drink again today. I know my a bad girl😊
Happy New Year to all! -
Ha ha! It's good to be bad sometimes! I hope 2013 is better than 2012! On top of everything else that happened in 2012.....last night while my mom was at dinner with us, her home was burglarized........please, God, make 2013 a good one!
-
What the crap! I'm so sorry to hear that but happy she wasn't home.
Come 2013 don't let us down. We have been looking forward to you for a long time! -
anyone still look at this thread? I live in western RivCo

Maddy, Jill, Michelle: Hi, I'm Mary, aka SheChirple. I'm actually in Moreno Valley. I saw Maddy's bump of this thread and thought I'd add.
If anyone gets this going, I'd be happy to join in on a get together.
-
And I am in Rialto and just saw this thread, count me in!
-
Hi Mary and mpetago! Glad to see some response on this thread, seems like it's been quiet awhile. What does everyone want to do? Looks like thread originator, Michelle is from Lake Elsinore, and recent posts of Mary/SheChirple (Moreno Valley), mpetago (Rialto), and Me/2TA (Corona). Am in pretty active contact with a couple other IE ladies (Canyon Lake, Murrieta, Redlands). Do we want to wait a bit to see if we can generate a bigger group or get together sooner?
I also go out to the Redlands area periodically as that's where my parents now live.
-
Hi Maddy! Seems like Redlands could be a good meeting point? I would vote for get together sooner
-
maybe that's misleading, I live in Corona, but get out to Redlands on occasion
-
any suggestions for location and date? I probably won't be available till the end of March
-
How about something near the Galleria at Tyler in Riverside (surrounding restaurants) which would be sort of central to all?
Saturday? Lunch?
I'll just throw it out there: Olive Garden, across from the Galleria at Tyler, Saturday, 3/29, noon. Lunch.
Mary

We are in the midst of moving right now, bleh
but if I can possibly be done in time to go on the 29th I definitely will. Otherwise, the next one!
-
just checking in. Was up in the mtns by Big Bear this weekend. Stopped off in Redlands to visit my parents tonight as it's just a short drive there.
Need to check my calendar but that seems convenient for me. Will let you know.
-
3/29 sounds good. Will check back closer to that date for a head count.
