ideas for protecting a gauntler?

I have two brand spankin' new sleeve/gauntlet sets, and the gauntlets fit me better than anything I have used in the past (thank you, Luna Medical for excellent fitting help!). I weightlift regularly in the gym, and I think that some of the grips on dumbbells and weight machines really beat up my gauntlets. I would like to keep the new ones nice, but I want to use them in the gym. Any ideas for covering a gauntlet in a way that does not reduce the ability to grip well? I have weightlifting gloves, but the fingers do not work well over the gauntlet...not to mention the velcro on them that just wants to destroy my gauntlet!

Thanks, if anyone has an idea or two!

edited to say that of course, I meant 'gauntlet' in the title. So much for typing on my phone!

Carol, have you tried taking them off for the lifting and wearing a tight pair of lifting gloves?  My gloves are pretty form-fitting on my fingers.  I'd never wear them anywhere outside the gym because they're so bulky, but they fit me about the same as my lymphedema gloves.  That said, using my lymphedema gloves is not a routine thing for me and I've never noticed any increase in swelling after lifting, so whether or not the lifting gloves would actually work the same is for me theoretical.

Outfield, funny but I never thought of that, and it's a very good idea!  My lifting gloves are indeed quite tight. I haven't worn them since my LE diagnosis, when I started wearing the compression clap-trap in the gym, but I think you are right about having similar compression, so I'm going to give it a try this morning.  Thanks!!!

Carol--I wear mine when weight lifting and do not cover.  I just wash them right after.  They seem to last okay.  I am fortunate as I get two new ones every four months with my insurance so am collecting a lot of old ones.  Since my hand measurements have not changed in the last year I can use old ones now.

Carol-Meant to say that Luna Medical has been great for me too--even long distance.  I always get good fits from them.  Plus they work closely with my therapist. I am glad you went to see Myanna.  Becky
