Help!! Airline no longer has low salt available
We all know travel today is a HOT MESS. Well...the flight I am doing to Republic of Georgia via United no longer has low salt meals available! This is medically necessary, and I'm very upset.
What should I do, pack my food?
Help, ladies!

Unfortunately this is sad. Is it a conspiracy theory that if we have more salt we will retain our water and not use the washrooms thus saving the airplane company money by not having to buymore toilet paper. My imagination is going wild here !!!!!

Being serious now, I will suggest packing your meals if you can. Brazil nuts , hazelnuts, macadamia nuts are full of protein and the high fat in them will keep you satisfied and they won't take up a lot of room. An avocado with the healthy fat in it will keep you full for about 3 hours if you can keep it from getting bruised. ( Pack it in a tupperware, cut in half, squeeze lemon juice on it to keep it from browning then seal shut again, take out pit so the airline doesn't say you are carrying a seed which might be illegal.) the fat content will do the trick. Sprinkle high protein hemphearts on it and you will be good to go. Hemphearts are also high In calories and this is good for travel as you won't need to munch constantly. Fruit will just wreck havoc with your sugars making you want to eat more. Yet, you won't have anymore food left. You will notice I have given you a list of high density foods that stick with you for a long time.
Check with airline to see what kinds of foods are allowed.
Drink tons of water, Get up for a frequent walk and pee and that will be great for your LE. -
Hi gang, I know the power of these boards is also to help others along the way, so first, THANK YOU, hugz4u! I packed eggs, gorp, power bars, and drank a ton of water. These were also brilliant recommendations, hugz, and I am going to implement them on the way back!
I also wanted to let people know that I wore my sleeve, walked, calmed myself, pumped my fists, and didn't eat anything questionable. I did get one low salt meal--they no longer list them on the airlines, but if you call and insist, seems you can get them. This may just be a Lufthansa thing, I don't know.
In any case, I arrived at my destination doing fine. I also have a complete emergency kit for any possible LE flairs, including Keflex. I do not have active LE, though I had six nodes removed and had cording during radiation, so I am of the mind that wearing a sleeve for travel is a good thing. These boards helped me come that that conclusion.
It is hard for me to put in words how much these boards have helped me get my life back. Thanks to your feedback and care, I can plan and get on with my life. The doctors are great, but they just aren't helpful with the real life experience. I owe my success in part to you all, so thanks from the bottom of my heart.

I am so glad it worked out for you and I am even happier that you are proactive in LE prevention. You deserve a round of Binney's brownies in celebration. Low salt of course

These boards are wonderful, The emotional support is really here as even our families "just don't get it" We here all understand.

LtotheK, I just love good news--thank you for letting us know!! I'm betting your post today will inspire other women who are hesitant to travel to give it a try. Once we know how to care for ourselves we can be confident about going ahead with our adventures.
Love it!! (Love the brownies too, Hugz!)

Hey gang, another check in after being in the Caucasus for 4+ weeks. I'm doing great, no problems so far. At high elevation, I try to keep it cool with the booze (good luck on that, this culture is soaked in alcohol and hey, we live once!) and drink plenty of water. I will say that taking a probiotic has helped keep things, ahem, going...and that is helpful for me with water retention. A thought.
My emergency kit hasn't been needed, but it is with me always as a reminder that I can do this.
Ladies, please go out there and be bold. We are here for you when you need your backup. My thanks to you all again. Words simply cannot convey how you are with me every step of this journey.
