Large cut on my thumb

Iam sure someone has asked this before but there is so much info to go through. I was hoping someone could help me a little faster. I have Lymphedema its mild and flares up at times. Yesterday while cleaning I cut my thumb its a large gash and I probably should have gotten stitches. My question is what can I do to prevent cellulitis

Hi Janie-bug. I am fairly new to the LE thing, still wearing compression bandages, but I did ask my LE Specialist what to do if I cut myself cooking or sewing. She said to wash to the maxl, then treat with antibiotic cream and bandage. Pretty standard stuff. She also added no reason for panic, just keep a tight eye on it during healing. Hope this wasnt all too obvious to be reassuring!

Watch for infection. If it is getting red and inflamed, outline it in pen and watch to see if the red grows out of the penned in area. Seek doc if so.
