More Confusing Results - Is it Mets or Not??

The saga with my mom's possible mets continues! The onc just called her to say that unfortunately the clavicle lymph node biopsy didn't show anything so they still don't know if the 3 lytic lesions on the bone are cancer or not and she will need to go for a bone biopsy. This Friday makes one month since the emergency room doctor told her that based on her CT scans she is "full of cancer"!

So a recap: Xray and blood work were fine, CT scan shows 3 lytic lesions, bone scan we are guessing also showed those 3 lesions since onc is still concerned, ultrasound on her swollen clavicle area and neck were all clear, and lymph node biopsy was clear.

The pain in her shoulder is much better and the swelling is entirely gone except the clavicle head bone is a teeny bit bigger than the other side. No longer painful to the touch. This has the onc baffled as well.

My mom asked him if this is good news and he just said that they really don't know anything because their concern is the bone lesions and the biopsy wouldn't tell them anything about that. Then why the *F* would they bother doing it in the first place if the concern was bone lesions? This is so frustrating and confusing! The stress has been so hard on my mom...and all of us who love her.

Anyone else have any scares? Is there a chance that this could still turn out to be something other than cancer? Asking the onc is useless as he is very much the type that doesn't tell you anything unless he is certain, not even just an opinion or his take on what something might look like to him.
