Are there any TN out here?  I would like to hear about other options.  Had my surgery last Tuesday bi-lateral mastectomy.  Sentinel node had Microscopic cells did a Auxiliary node biopsy.  Saw my surgeon yesterday he didn't have the full report but 20 nodes taken and one had microscopic cell he said very minimal so I will meet with the oncologist on Friday.  My original diagnosis was IDC cell grade 2 along with a small DCIS.  I was a T1 before surgery I asked him yesterday if it would change and he said maybe to a T2.  I will know more on Friday.  I would just like to hear other options.  I have already started the TN diet to help reduce recurrence

carlads - what is the TN diet? Never heard of it. I have started chemo - had 2 rounds, but am now questioning my decision since there is absolutely no guarantee that it will impact the recurrence. I am just so terrified of what the long term side effects of chemo will do and I am already experiencing some neuropathy after only 2 rounds.

Are you going to have chemo?

    Carlads,

I have triple neg IDC with left MX with node dissection (2/17) on 11/26 and start chemo AC +T 12/26.

I too have not heard of that diet. I would like more info when you have the time.

    Thanks,

I'm also interested in the TN diet. Where did you get it? I do know we should not be eating any suger as that feeds the tumor. Eat lots of fruit and vegetables. No white bread or white rice either. Alcohol is not good for you either. Bti would be interested in knowing what you have learned.

Adagio, I too have the neuropathy after taxol. Just had my 3rd dose today and my onc lowered the dosage because of the neuropathy. I do take the L Glutemine which is suppose to help. So by Sunday I should know if the lower dose has helped with that.

I so worry about reoccurence too. Everyone says, oh you will be just fine after your surgery. But they don't realize about the reoccurence. It scares the crap out of me! I've got to find a way not to stress about it. So if you figure that out, let me know. My surgery is January 24th and am having a BMX with reconstruction. Still a long road.

    Take care,

    Erin

Hello to all on this thread. I am "TN". Recently started a thread asking about "Mistletoe". I just stopped chemo on my own. My Onc's PNPs will not return any of my calls. They used to call me right away - They have ignored me all week since I quit chemo. I have been with my onc's office for almost two years. I cannot believe they are treating me this way. Oh well - will not need them as I am seeing an ND in Jan. He is even a participating provider with my insurance company. He has practied in VT for 21 years - He is the first licensed ND in Vermont.

I have to run for now, but will rejoin this thread this weekend or after Christmas.

My thoughts are with you all.

reality - why did you stop the chemo? I have thought of doing that also because I don't like the other things it is doing to my body. I know you did the Taxol and it was not a positive experience for you - but I am always curious as to why people make the choices they do - they are so consequential to our health!! How many taxol did you have?

The weird thing in this cancer diagnosis is that there are absolutely no guarantees no matter what we choose. So I am now wondering if I should simply enjoy a better quality of life without the chemical toxic drugs in my system and see what happens. Just a few thoughts!

    Hey there,

For neuropathy, I took Acetyl-L-Carnitine - 1000mgs 3x a day.  I also took 200mg of B6 and 200mgs of B1.  Did not get any neuropathy and my onc was fine with it.  I recommended this to a friend who went through chemo after me.  She didn't take it and then got terrible neuropathy, so she e-mailed me for the recommendation again.  She started taking the supplements and the neuropathy improved immediately and eventually went away.

    Hope this helps!

With respect to TN diet, there are a number of foods that have been found in academic studies to be associated with reduced risk of TN breast cancer or its recurrence. There are also foods that appear to promote it (e.g., red meat and omega-6 oils such as sunflower oil). Not to say that diet alone could prevent or cure any type of breast cancer, but it makes sense to create the most favorable environment within our bodies to fight it. If interested, please Google "What should triple negative breast cancer patients and survivors eat?"

    Best wishes for 2013,

    Sarah
