Congenital Lymphedema has been added to the Social Security Disability's Compassionate Allowances list! A Compassonate Allowance application is processed as quickly as possible instead of the dreaded 6-7 months a regular application takes. This means Congenital Lymphedema is being taken as the seriously urgent medical disease that it is. I feel very strongly that this will ease the path for those of us whose lymphedema just doesn't respond well to treatment.

Great news Doe, primary LE is so often ignored, while breast cancer related LE gets all the attention.

Actually, in Canada, Anna Towers said the health system doesn't cover treatment of primary LE at all. She had to send away patients who were having life threatening cellulitis and huge disability.

    Thanks for the update.

Ironic that it goes to the top of the list, yet medicare doesn't pay for garments.

Thanks Kira, I was recently hospitalized with infectious colitis and a kidney infection and couldn't get my stupid doctor to understand that the rash on my breast was cellulitis. I had to use the back door. Wait til he left, show the nurse, who then had an infectious disease doctor there within minutes. It was going systemic. Needless to say, I have a new primary now.

Yes! The whole garment thing is just ridiculous! Did you get my email on 'Radiation Damage Discussion'?
