Stage III Cancer Survivors ...Five + Years and Out.

Hi All, just a reminder that the purpose of this thread is for those to post who have made a 5 year anniversary. I appreciate how easy it is to get off topic but I ask you to please move treatment discussions to a different thread.
This is not a treatment thread but a place to post anniversaries and to celebrate hope.

I am five plus years out from all surgery and treatment and chose to go holistic. I take only herbs, and supplements and feel great! I took femara for a few months and decided it was not for me!
If statistics were correct, I should have been dead by now!
-
Thank you, Carol, for sharing such great news! Congratulations!
-
Carol-thank you for sharing! Your post = HOPE.
-
I just realized I'm five years out from my first diagnois with breast cancer. Yet it wasn't until April that I was actually staged following my axillary node dissection.
Oceana
-
Oceana-you also = HOPE! Thanks for sharing.
March 19 will be one year since my dx. I thank God for getting me through all the treatment. I'm trying to learn how to live again - not sure how to do this yet.
-
Carol, that is great news! Thanks for sharing!
-
Carol & Oceana.....YEEHA ! Thx for sharing......
-
Stopped by to say that today marks 8 years since I heard those dreaded words that no one ever wants to hear!!! I see my onc the middle of next month and will get confirmation then if NED continues to be my bff.....
I'm 8 years older and have gotten to see many milestones with my children....DD#1 graduate college and marry...DS finish high school, travel to Hawaii and Israel and go to college and DD#2 finish elementary and middle school, become a Bat Mitzvah and get her learners permit. Plus I'm still Mom and wife to my DH of 36 years. I've travelled to Israel 4 times and have met several dear bco sisters.....I walk at least 12K steps/daily and hope to start running....
There is life on the other side of treatment!!!
-
Thank you for sharing your great news, Karen...congratulations!
-
Karen - Awesome! Beautiful story and encouragement.
-
Karen, your news is inspiring....Thanks for sharing & continued good health...
-
Dear Karen, Congrats my friend!
-
Yeah for the milestones, congrats Karen, Carol & Oceana! Wishing you continued health and happiness.

Yesterday was 5 years from my last radiation treatment. Diagnosed on 6/5/2008 stage effin' 3 and for those who say that we should go by last day of treatment...well, then...I am starting YEAR 6!
I still think about cancer every day but I don't always think pre/post cancer anymore, I think more about how wonderful my life is and has been, how lucky I am. The past 5 years has been full of things I am so glad I haven't missed and hope to have many more years to add to them.
After I was diagnosed, I looked at pictures prior to diagnosis and thought "that was when I didn't know" This picture, taken right after I finished treatment, you see the "I know" in my eyes...
Feb 2009:
And here, now, I just see ME again.
-
Just beautiful, Everyminute...thank you and congratulations!
-
everyminute, THANK YOU!
I needed to hear something positive today!
Hugs!

Everyminute...Beautiful photos, & yes I agree, you have "that look", of intensity, grief and determination in your first photo. 2nd photo is lovely...
Today was my last radiation tx. Hope to be posting here in 5 years...
Congratulations & continued excellent health
-
Everyminute - Thank you for sharing. You gave me hope and encouragement today! I appreciate your pictures too.
-
Mary...you are amazing
-
Congrats on your 5 years, there will be many more. I love the photos, they depict the emotional states of cancer dx, tx and recovery so well. 'Keep on keeping on', Warrior Princesses.
-
Mary, Karen & all, congrats on all these wonderful milestones! I had my 8 year on Feb 1 and meant to come here to post, but life got in the way
Doing great and loving life!
-
Bugs,
Congrats...thanks for posting & continued good health...
-
Hey Bugs....itsn't it nice when life gets in the way....love ya sistah!!!!
-
I'm very behind here - just wanted to say congrats to all who have passed a milestone (LOL - just wrote 'molestone' - that won't work). Everyminute - those pictures really say it all. You are beautiful in both, but the difference is dramatic.
Hugs to all you stage 3ers.
-
Everyminute - lovely photos!! I passed my 5 years out last month, but that would be from dx, not from end of treatment. It's confusing -- some docs say 5 years is from first dx, some say from end of treatments. I'm celebrating it anyway ! Here's to us all being here a loooonnnnnnnnggggg time. Shelly
-
Shelly, YEEHA, continued good Health !
-
Shelly, my MO says it's from dx -- congratulations! Thank you for dropping in!
-
Congratulations to all these wonderful anniversaries and milestones. Lovely pictures!
-
Bec: I'll take your onc's word for it !!
Karen: You do not take any AH therapies? Just wondering....
Huggzzz
