MRI question

Options

I am scheduled to have a neck MRI on Monday because of some neck stiffness, pain and numbness in my arm and fingers.  Signs point to degenerative discs/arthritis, but of course the idea of spine mets is in the back of my mind. The hand specialist did not order contrast with the MRI, but I have read that it is a good idea to go ahead and have contrast in MRIs of cancer survivors, as a matter of course. Thoughts? Has enyone else dealt with a non-cancer-related MRI and asked for contrast just to be sure?  Thanks....
