I have been having nipple sensitivity and noticed a very small scab on my nipple. My surgery was back in April of this year. Has anyone heard of this or experienced this?

Hi pmm, I have had nipple sensitivity since my initial excision and two additional re-excision lumpectomies, particularly since the last procedure, where the excision was pretty close to the nipple.  The sensitivity is only noticeable when touched, not otherwise.  I'm sure this is totally expected.  These procedures are pretty traumatic to the tissue.

I don't know about the scab issue, although I did discover that they used some kind of "glue" to hold the incision together after the last procedure, rather than the steri-strips.  It started to "peel", so I knew it was some kind of suturing glue.  I think it might be prudent to have the breast surgeon check the scab, to be sure it isn't of concern.

Thank you for your reply. I guess I am nervous because the scab(?) is located where breast milk normally comes out of, coupled with the pain. I thought since my surgery was back in April of this year I was over all of this.

    Thanks again!
