Oncotype test in NZ

Options

Hi

Has anyone had an oncotype dx test in or from NZ? I'm interested in pursuing one but not sure where to start...

Thanks

Here's an email link for the "advocacy" at Genomics...they make the OncotypeDX test. Perhaps they can guide you.  However,  I would first ask your surgeon if s/he can get the test done for you.  Likewise, I might just wait to hear what the team has to say regarding your treatment.  You might get lucky if there is a consenus.

    Good luck!

    Hi

Just in case someone stumbles on this thread via google, my surgeon ordered the oncotype and ki67 tests at the panel meeting and they will be with my MO when i meet with him next week. This was without me knowing so it clearly is available here in NZ, but I have private insurance and I don't know if the public system would do it as thoroughly.

In fact, if I was with the public system I would have only had my first mammogram for the suspicious lump yesterday. I'm already weeks ahead so thank goodness for insurance.

Good to hear you could get the tests. I hope the results were good.

Hi ladies.  I spoke to my oncologist about the Oncotype test.  He told me it was not covered by my insurance and would be $5000+.  I didn't bite.  Decided not to go with chemo and went on Letraccord/Letrozole.

    Hi

It was three years ago now, but I knew I wanted the Oncotype DX test and had to phone around to find a surgeon who would do it. So this was how I chose my surgeon in the end! I had to pay about $5000 and it took ages to process, but I'm glad I did it as the results actually changed my recommended course of treatment.
