Good Friend With Recurrence

A very dear friend of mine, who helped me through my cancer experience, was a stage III survivor. She found a hard lump under her armpit recently, which is cancerous. I believe all the nodes they tested were positive. A CT scan found a "mole" behind her eye. I believe, but have not confirmed, that this is a choroidal metastasis.

I am flying out next week to help her. To complicate matters, she is moving to a new city this weekend, so will have to find new doctors and a new cancer treatment center. I know the practical things to do ... help her make phone calls, get her medical records, help her interview doctors. BUT, she is not a "go-getter" when it comes to medical stuff. I'm not sure she's motivated to take the steps necessary to treat this quickly. I will not know the full extent of her diagnosis/prognosis until I get out there, but if there's still hope for her, and if she's resistant to getting new doctors and treatment, what is my best approach? When I was diagnosed I was very assertive about getting information and help. She is more passive, and I'm not sure how best to help her move forward. Its far too much change at one time. The move on top of this brand new diagnosis (her appointment was tuesday to get test results) is simply too much for her to process, and I fear that she'll wait too long for treatment.

Thanks for listening.
