Anonymous BRCA testing

My fiancee has been through genetic counseling with a practitioner in her country, who has strongly recommended that she get BRCA testing.

Due to the fact that her results will not be private in their system (available to bankers, employers, etc.), she would very much prefer to have the testing done in the US, anonymously.

Thus far, the providers we have contacted have balked, and insist on conducting their own complete genetic counseling to decide whether the testing is indicated.

Can anyone provide any information about how to approach this?

Any time I've heard of anyone having the BRCA test in either Canada (where I am) or the U.S., it's always been done in conjunction with genetic counseling. That was certainly the case when I had it done.  The reason is because the implications of testing either negative or positive are not that simple and straightforward, so it's important to have an expert who has looked at your family health history and who can explain what the results mean in your particular situation.

I don't know that it's possible to get around that. You might be able to find a general practitioner who is willing to take the blood sample and submit it to Myriad, but most would not.
