Does anyone replace tamoxifen with homeopathic therapy?
I wonder if anyone here has replaced tamoxifen with homeopathic therapy.
I've had mastectomy on my left breast last year and my surgeon has suggested tamoxifen for 5 years. I don't know if it is just due tamoxifen or other medicin I am taking (antidepressants), but I realized that my migranes have increased. I also know all the risk involved with tamoxifen, so I am considering to visit a homeopath physician to see if there is another chance with less side-effects, but that equally effective preventing cancer.
Thank you.

You may already know this, but some antidepressents should not be taken with tamox. I found a list doing a google search but you may want to ask your MO or pharmacist.
I haven't had a migraine headaches but I used to get the occular migraines. I know some docs think that there's a link between our hormonal cycle and migraines. I tried but never found a connection. You've probably tried this exercise yourself, trying to see what triggers the headaches The best I came up with were: 1) seems to happen a day or so after drinking red wine 2) seems to happen a few days after I go through a stressful period. (like my body is relaxing from the stress). You've probably seen that list of possible triggers, like chocolate, etc. I never felt confident that I could pin it down. On the plus side, I haven't had one in *ages*. (since before my BC Tx. ). I chose to stop drinking alcohol, so if my trigger was red wine, maybe that would explain it. FWIW, I've been on tamox for over a year and no ocular migraines during that time (of course, every patient is different). Also, this is not a replacement for tamox, but I've heard many sources say eating cruciferous veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, etc) can help fight cancer--even my RO recommended eating a serving at least 3x a week. (seems good to do, regardless of meds). Good luck. I know migraines are no fun and it can be frustrating trying to figure it out.

Hi peggy,
thank you for writing me and telling me your experience. My phychiatrist gave me an antidepressant that is compatible with tamoxifen. But yesterday I had an appointment with a neurologist who suggested me similar actions you recommended me: I used to have migrane before and after menstruation, so I have to take care of my diet, avoiding alcohol, chocolate, cheese and anything that is too fat. She also told me to have a diary to record the headaches and describe its intensity. I have also noticed that sometimes migranes comes because I am stressed, but I will also take note if drinking wine drives me to migranes too.
I still wonder if tamoxifen can be replaced with homeopathy... or any other alternative medicine?

I may be too late for this info since its almost a year later but have heard of the supplement " Indol 3 Carbinol" it has the same stuff that is found in cruciferous vegetables, eg. Cauliflower , broccoli , kale, etc. There have been some tests done that say it blocks cells from getting estrogen. Ask your doctor or nutritionist and look for the research. I am not advocating taking something without checking it out first.

There are lot of different things people are taking that I have read about on different threads. Indole 3 Carbinol, DIM, grapeseed extract are the main ones I remember. I don't take them myself but hopefully these ladies will come along and explain more. You could do a search for a post titled 'Treating Estrogen responsive cancer naturally'. There's tons of info there.
