Encouragement
I have not been really exercising since my diagnosis in July. I am in the early stages of reconstruction : tissue expanders, and am ready to get back to it.
I had my bilateral mastectomy on October 17 and my PS said she doesn't want me doing anything but walking right now.
I have a wonderful yoga teacher who is SUPER safe and cautious.
My PS has me a little freaked out right now.
Any words of wisdow?

It's not even a month since your surgery...did your PS give you her reasoning behind her wanting you to wait longer? I remember mine said to keep asking and he'd tell me when it was OK. I don't remember exactly how long, it was, but I remember asking at every appointment, every fill, until he finally said OK. Besides your upper body needing time to heal, he also didn't want me sweating, as it could cause an infection.
In the scheme of things, why not just listen to your doctor for a few more weeks. She's probably done this enough to know what's safe for you and what isn't. JMO.

There is a really good app called "my fitness pal" that is free, I've lost 26 pounds. I was 225. After I had my surgery I really took it easy---ate too much and watched TV. But walking and yoga are really great activities----you might like my fitness pal. It is an app for an I phone, I pad but it is also on a regular computer. Best wishes for your healing and strength.

Itsjustme...you got me with potential for infection. Yikes. What she said was she didn't think I would hold back. Also your point about the fact that she's been at this rodeo before .
I will Check out both the fitness goal group as well as my fitness pal. I also have a fitbit that I was using regularly before this dx.
All your comments were awesome. I think you all gave me the energy and support to get going. I especially like the idea of listening and trusting my body.
Thank you so much one and All

I went back to my group exercise yesterday on the month-a-versary of my bmx. what a treat to dance with my "tribe"
I was very cautious stuck to the feet and after a half and hour went and sat down.
The response of the group was interesting and it taught me something about the stress of breast cancer. Everyone commented on how great I looked, how relaxed I appeared and how happy I was.
I realized that the stress of all the decisions regarding breast cancer treatment really saps energy and once the course has been decided there's a huge amount of relief.
