Ok, so I don't have any dr.'s that really know anything about LE, but am seeing a new breast surgeon next month to help me plan for post treatment follow ups for my DCIS and maybe she will know something, but seems like it could be a crapshoot, right?

So the "LE therapist" and I use that term lightly since I think she was a moron, I saw dismissed me. Told me she didn't need to see me unless I felt like I was getting worse.

Do any of you get LE check ups at all?

I am more of a newbie here, but I just  noticed your post had no reply. It can be tough on a long weekend.

My first LE therapist was nice, but not  a bit helpful.  She dismissed me as well.

I just made an appt . with another and have hopes of getting some real tx.

I would strongly advise you to look into another therapist!

Pls let us know how you make out.

    Good Luck!

cinnamon, a check-in with your therapist every six months is standard. New measurements, answer any questions, review self care, working out self-care problems. BUT, if you run into any problems, then appointments can happen at any time. If you have surgery scheduled you'll want a pre-visit to be sure the swelling is as controled as possible and that if necessary the therapist is available to talk with the surgeon. Afterward another appointment might be necessary to help regain control if there was a problem. Cellulitis is another reason to schedule a visit, as you may need help getting things back into control after the infection is gone.

I'm really sorry you don't have a therapist you're glad to seeFrown, as this is truly an on-going relationship and needs to be one we're comfortable with. Keep looking for a better fit!

    Gentle hugs,
    Binney

This woman obivously is blowing smoke up every where. She bragged to me about all the conferences she has gone to, hob nobbing with doctors. But it appears to me, the she is uneducated about the very basics about LE. I have gone to the "best LE therapists" at the two competing clinics in my area.

I don't know who to go to, the therapist I saw for 5 months in 2011 and didn't "hear" me complain about LE symptoms until my LAST appt. or go the current moron I have?

I am glad I have you guys so I know what I should be doing.

I think I may write a letter to the head of the ot/pt department about her lack of knowldege and care of LE.
