BMX, Silicone Implants & Police Academy

Hello everyone! I am 40 and was diagnosed just over two weeks ago with Stage 1 IDC, ER & PR positive. It was a hell of a way to have a first mammogram! Given my age, family history, fear of recurrence, etc. I have chosen to have a bilateral mastectomy. I met with the plastic surgeon today & was hoping for the DIEP option but, since I have lost about 100 pounds in the last 4 years, I just don't have the right "stuff" to qualify, so we have decided on silicone implants.

My question is this: I was very close to fulfilling a dream of becoming a police officer (one of several reasons that I lost so much weight was so I could pass the agility tests) and have had to put that on hold. I'm hoping someone has experience with having a MX & recon and then going through a police academy or similar experience. We have to do pushups, situps, 1.5 mile run & a bench press to get in & to graduate. During the 14 weeks of the academy we also do a lot of cross fit type exercises, self defense training, etc. Is it an unreasonable dream to think that I have to just postpone my dream & not just forget about it altogether?
