homeopathic plan sounds so good! Oncologists say not.

I am approaching my 5th year of recovery and have spent them fine tuning my diet to only organic fruits and vegetables, very little meat, hardly any bread, only whole grains etc. Basically eating very healthy. My cholesterol and weight have gone up quite a bit and it's due to Femara I believe.  I found a Nutritionist who has a wonderful background and one of my friends has started her program with great success. It makes such good sense to me as she has gone over my test results and given me an individual plan that will help with what showed up as a congested liver, some dehydration, and basically the need to work my way off antidepressants. Has anyone out there had any experience in this area? I can see why Drs. don't want you to prescribe for yourself or just buy stuff from the health food stores. I have seen the results with my friend who is now into her 36th week of the program. She has lost weight along with the dark circles under her eyes and she feels much better.

ajl- have you considered that the weight gain you have experienced could be a side effect from the antidepressants instead of the Femara?  I have friends that lost weight when they went off of the antidepressants they were taking.  Sending good thoughts.

When I met with a nutritionist we reviewed my eating habits but she didn't make strong claims, because I had a basically healthy diet. (organic, mostly vegetarian, little dairy, etc). So for me, it was more about fine-tuning vs. radical changes that could reverse significant health problems. I don't know enough about your nutritionist's plan to understand why a MO would oppose to them. (my MO has a nutritionist on staff, so the two specialities don't have to contradict each other).

Not sure if this is helpful, but I gained weight my first year on tamox, despite good eating habits.  None of my tricks to lose a pound or two helped. boo. Finally, out of desperation, I started swimming 3x/week (in addition to my other exercises) and that turned the tide. My SIL has a friend who is a cancer survivor who gained weight during Tx and now she exercises every day (does Zumba 3x/week).
