Chemo port placed under the breast instead of chest?

My surgeon recommended this because it cannot be seen. I forgot to ask if it did not interfere with the bra which is more important at this point for me.

I had mine put in my arm so it would not interfere with reconstruction.  They placed it on the under side of my arm about mid bicep.  The scar is not bad there...it is fading and is not noticeable.

I wish I hadn't had mine on my chest. My scar is really visible.

Mine is ony chest but 3-4 inches lower than mybcollarbone cuz i didnt want it to show. But the tube going up my neck drives me crazy at 10 days post surgery and i can't imagine having a longer tubefrom below the breast.....

I had mine placed under the breast as planned and it was a bad idea. It was placed directly under the breast; that is, exactly where the breast ends and where the bra is supposed to fall. I cannot use a regular bra and I need it because I had a mastectomy.



It hurt a lot more than the mastectomy itself and everytime I coughed, sneezed or tried to lift something with that arm, the wound opened. For some reason, the surgeon only stitched the sides and not the middle of the wound. There he placed two small tapes crossway that fell off. I taped it shut with one long horizontal tape myself and now it is slowly healing. It has been two weeks. I can only use sport bras that are bigger than my size so as to make sure that there is no pressure on that area. For one week I could not use anything at all. This limits also the type of clothes that I can use.



I would not recommend this placement to anyone.
