BC and Graves Disease

My onc believes that the Graves Disease with the accompanying severe thyrotoxicosis (severe hyper thyroid) might haven "opened the door" so to speak, to BC. Hyperthyroid, due to the extremely fast metabolism it causes starts leaking your body of all kinds of minerals and vitamins. Most importantly, calcium and Vit. D. My onc used to be the Director of John Hopkins Breast Center, and he said that they did studies about the correlation between BC and Vit D levels. My vit D levels prior to BC were very low (at one point even 15). Now I'm trying to keep my Vit D levels up, around 60-65.

    Interesting. I had Graves' Disease about 30 years ago, and I had radioactive iodine treatment at the time to kill off my thyroid. I've often wondered if there was a connection.

    I'm now hypothyroid, and have been for 30 years, due to treatment.
