Post bone scan risk?

Hello everyone!  I am going to have a bone scan on Thursday - my first - and I see that I will be injected with a radioactive tracer for the test.  My question - I was planning to have lunch that afternoon with my newly pregnant friend but will I be putting her at risk by being near her that soon after the test?  I wish I had thought of this question earlier!

Jean, I was never told about any precautions, but it would be a good idea to call the facility ahead of time and ask.

I was told that if I was to go directly to an airport I would set off the scanner and they had a letter ready for that possibility, but otherwise normal interaction with my fellow human beings was safe.

Hello,  I was told it will not impact persons around me, but I could set off scanners are airports and border crossing.  I'd ask your facility though and just make sure of their protocol and advise. Good luck with you scan!

I was told not to sleep with, or cuddle with my kids for 24 hrs. I'd think you'd be fine having lunch, but ask if you're concerned.

I was told not to go back to work for 24 hours (I'm a teacher), and to avoid contact with pregnant women.
