Hello,

My mom finished chemo treatment at the end of July for Ductal Invasive Hormone
positive breast cancer (?) .  She had a masectomy in August and is currently on Herceptin drip for another 5 months and 5 years of the breast cancer pill. My mom is a small woman and weighed about 110 prior to the treastment.  She is still continuing to lose weight.  I am concerned because I am afraid she will keep losing the weight.  I haven't seen anything online about survivors continuing to lose weight.  I have heard of the opposite.  Has anyone experienced this?  Is it normal to still be losing weight?  Oh, her cancer was stage 1 and did not spread to her lymphnodes or breast tissues.  She's not limiting he caloric intake and she still has her apetite.  We can't give her ensure because she's diabetic.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  I am quite worried for her.  We were so happy to find that she was in remission...

Miki, until other members post with their experiences, there's an article at the main Breastcancer.org called Eating to Maintain or Gain Weight After Treatment that includes information that may be helpful to you.

Welcome to BCO - and best wishes to your mother and you.

Miki- Sorry about your moms diagnosis but glad she is doing fine now, other than the weight loss. The mods gave you a good site to go to. Hopefully others who have had this problem will come and give you some more advice. I just wanted to ask if your mom has had her thyroid checked? Sometimes this can cause weight loss as well (hyperthyroidism)

Hugs to you and your mom we are here for you both!

    Debbie
