Early signs of lymphedema?

I've noticed some swelling under my left arm, and my arm is sore if I stretch it a certain way.  But there is no swelling to the arm nor hand.  I've had surgery a year ago.  Can those be early signs of lymphedema?  Should I be worried?

Youngmama, while it's true that no one can diagnose you over the internet--since lymphedema has no single diagnostic criteria, it's often hard to get the right diagnosis from doctors and lymphedema therapists.

But, I think you're right to be concerned: the swelling in your arm is concerning, and the soreness when you stretch might be "cording" or might be due to some swelling.

The best bet is to see a good, qualified LE therapist--you'll need a referral from one of your doctors. 

Trust your gut and your sense of your body, and the good news is, the earlier you catch this, if it is LE, the better the outcome.
