Young/ Cancer 2x / Please Give Treatment Advice
Hi all.
I was diagnosed at 29 yrs old with Invasive Cancer left breast. ER/PR + Her-2 Neg. 0.08cm. in my left Breast. I had a lumpectomy, node disection, AC Chemo (didnt finish) and 33 Rads.
One year later, I found a very large mass just below the armpit on the left that Dr.'s said was higly suspicious of reocurrent Carcinoma. Had another Lumpectomy, and was not Cancer.
Then at 35 they found 2 masses in the Rt. Breast that had Atypia, and planned to do a Lumpectomy on those. This was Nov.2011.
I moved and delayed the surgery. When I came back 6 months later, they gave me another M.R.I which showed Invasive Cancer on the left side again ER/PR+ Her-2 Neg. 0.08cm. and DCIS 0.06cm.
They suggested a Double Mas. with Immediate Reconstruction which I had 2 weeks ago.
Today I saw my Oncologist for the 1st time, who said that at 29 and again at 36, this is not the greatest thing. She said this Cancer is a re-occourance from the last Cancer. She said my chances of getting Cancer again were about 30%. She suggested Checmo every 3 wks. x4 with Tamoxifin, or I could just do Tamoxifin. She said with having Cancer twice at such a young age, she doesnt think this is going to be my last go round with Cancer.
Question for you experienced Ladies, what should I do? I want to do everything possible to save my life, but Im scared, and have 4 kids (youngest 3yrs.) Other hand, I dont want to regret not doing it. I dont want to get Cancer 3 times!!
My Sister said if it were her, she would do everything possible. My Husband said skip the Chemo because obviously it didnt help last time. (My Oncologist got on me today about not finishing the last few Chemos, but said she wasnt blaming me for the re occourence)
Thanks for reading )

If they are offering chemo, my advise is to take it. It didnt "cure" you last time but that is no reason not to keep trying. My only suggestion to you is to finish your treatments that gives you a much better chance of not flaring up again.

Goodness, do the chemo and try to finish this time. You seem to be susceptible to BC, so do everything you can to eradicate the nasty stuff.
To ensure you complete the chemo, prepare for it. Try to rest as much as you can, get lots of movies to watch and books to read, hire a housecleaner, have your husband do the cooking. You need to stay strong so, knowing what chemo does to you, prepare for this 2nd time around and hopefully you'll never have to deal with it again.
Good luck. Sending positive vibes your way!
