Scar Tissue Issues

I am a 56 year old woman and a 7 year survivor of breast cancer.  At the time of my surgery (lumpectomy and radiation treatments), I ended up getting an abcess on the scar line of my surgery.  It happened to be on a weekend, of course, so I had to go to the emergency room to have it taken care of.  Of course they had to reopen the incision and they told me to see my surgeon asap.  My surgeon recommend letting the opening close from the outside out and I had to continue to pack the incisioin for the next several weeks until it healed completely.  I was told this doesn't happen to many people but it was unfortunate for me.  Because of this and the radiation treatments (33), the scar tissue is very dense and there is alot of it.  On my recent mammogram the radiologist was concerned that the scar tissue has increased with time.  She had me have a ultrasound but didn't really give her anymore information that the mammogram.  So she told me I will have to have another mammogram in 6 months for further evaluation.

I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything like this and if I should be worried about the scar being cancerous.  I wonder what they can do as far as further testing.  Just concerned.
