25 years old dx AGAIN Her2neu +++ Skin involvement?

Options

Last night I found out that I recurred. I was originally dx in November 2010 (I was 23 years old) with stage III IDC. Had 6 rounds of TCH followed by surgery and Herceptin for a year.

I finished Herceptin in April of this year. I discoverd a very tiny lump at the beginning of August and had it checked by the oncologist. He didn't seem overly concerned but told me to check in a few weeks later. Lump had since grown and my reconstructed breast had areas of redness, tenderness, and warmth. I went in for the biopsy on Wednesday and the doctors were concerened about IBC or recurrence in the skin.

I'm a little confused, if I do have a skin recurrence, is it considered stage IV? or is it still a local recurrence? Also, what is the treatment for this type of recurrent cancer?

Thank you!

I'm not sure if the skin recurrence is considered Stage IV. I just wanted to send you ((((hugs)))). I was just diagnosed with a met (I don't think it is a recurrence. It must have always been there and they just missed it somehow).

What treatment are they using for you. I'm having a biopsy tomorrow to see if I have recurrence in the skin, or IBC.  Thanks, Linda

Can I ask what the skin involvement looks like.  I have wierd skin things and I worry about recurrance in the skin a lot.  I had skin involvement on my original diagnosis, so it is a constant fear.  I have redness, but I also had radiation, so they always say it is that.

Ucdteacher, any news from your biopsy? Since you haven't posted, I'm hoping you're ok.

I think stage 4 mean a DISTANT tumour/cancer, away from the breast area. It's great you found it and went right to the doctor and got action! Let us know how you made out, our thoughts are with you!
