Should I be taking Estroven
Hi ladies, I have valued your input for the past year and a half with my mom (Stage 3b), but now I have a question for myself.
I am 51, peri-menopausal, have dense/fibrocystic breasts, and had a FNA in 2007 (cyst) and core needle biopsy this past June (benign solid mass). I have been taking Estroven Max which is a soy supplement for about 5 years now as it's the only thing I can find to minimize night sweats.
Given my history of issues - -thankfully all benign -- and my mom's Stage 3b status, should I be taking a soy supplement. I cannot find any information that clearly says yes or no, so I thought I'd ask you all.

I should have also mentioned that in addtion to the Estroven Max, I am also still taking a birth control pill. Here is the info from that website: Estrostep Fe contains the hormones ethinyl estradiol and norethindrone acetate. These are like estrogen and progesterone, the hormones naturally made in a woman's body. Other Only Estrostep Fe has graduated estrogen dosing (20 to 35 mcg of estrogen, depending upon the week)
The Estroven Max has 80 mg of soy isoflavones. I hope I am just being overly cautious in asking your opinions.

I dont know about soy. Some say its okay, some say it may not be. I dont know what to think of it right now
That birth control pill....could you use maybe iud -the plain one- without the hormones
My words ofvadvice
Do your monthly checks-put reminder in phone
Make sure whoever reads your mammo is a radiologist that just reads mammos
Always pick up copy of your mammo
Know your breast density
If you have dense breasts insist on US -
I would not take the pill. The night sweats should eventually pass, so you might want to skip the supplement as well. I know the studies are inconclusive, but my take is that if it works on menopause symptoms, then it is probably a bad idea.

Thanks ladies -- I appreciate your advice and I am also going to talk to my OB/GYN about this. She's been very careful about screenings due to my dense breasts and my mom's BC -- my June biopsy was after I had pain in my breast and thought I felt something. She did not, but ordered a mammo and US immediately and the solid mass showed up on the US -- but not the mammo. Referred to a BS and again, did not show up on two mammos but did on an US, so they did the biopsy. It was, thankfully, benign but I am going to insist on US and mammos from here on out.
Will take your advice for going off the birth control pill and the Estroven. Thanks again.
