hi all
finished chemo and had mastectomy last thursday and then will have 7 weeks of rads, i want to have another shot at chemo before rads but my oncologist at rph says no, she says there is no evidence to support more chemo that there will be a better outcome...
does anyone know of dr. in perth western australia that specialises in ibc..want more chemo before rads, ive just got this gut feeling to do so.
any recommendations oncologist dr's in perth western australia?
any information would be appreciated.

hi bon
thanks for reply

so glad to see you are doing so well.
DX April 2012 IBC 10cm Triple Neg...4mths chemo....Adriamycin Doxorubicin Docetaxel taxotere Cyclophosphamide...Mastectomy 13/9/2012 .....no reconstruction...not sure either more chemo or rads first
not sure either rads first or if i can convince oncologist more chemo then rads or depending on pathology from mastectomy. if good results will wait and have rads first the way the drs want it.....still really confused but my gut tells me to have more chemo even if reports are good...
here in australia they dont advise more chemo, hate having to ask, beg for what i want, i dont have much faith in drs here, my breast had all the symptoms of ibc, pitted orange, hot, swollen, sore, red...and it took 4 months to diagnose...i know its hard to diagnose but 4 months of antibiotics

and in that time nodes above my collar bone came up, nodes to chest wall and under arm came.
did have node involvement when diagnosed, the large node under arm was biopsied and was positive for cancer.
last scan was 7 weeks ago and showed all nodes had shrunk lots but by the time i had mastectomy the node under arm had grown...i could feel it.
have no idea whats happened since, all i do know, complete node clearance during mastectomy and have appointment with breast dr on the 28th september when i get results.
bon u have helped me a lot with your messages especially regarding radiation & 'internal mammory nodes'..you seem to know exactly what to ask, all the things that were on my mind

again thanks for being there,
much love

Hi livzz, I have PM you but to add to that email I believe Dr Mandy Taylor at Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital is a very experienced RO and is Director RO at that hospital. As stated in PM Dr Peter Willshere BS and his wife Dr Chan is a chemo wizard, both are at the Mount Hospital.
Best wishes for speedy resolution.

Hi liv! Just got your PM. I know we have chatted a lot on the Aussie forum (bcaus.org). The WA girls meet up from time to time...as do all the states. Its great that you have found some IBC advice on this forum as I know its not a common breast cancer.
There are some lovely ladies here as you've found...very knowledgeable ones as well.
See you in Aust!...lol
