post-surgery/pre-rads baseline mammo finds new calcs

I was all set to start rads this coming Monday, and my RO ordered a baseline mammo so that she would know what my breast looks like post-surgery.  Instead, rads is on hold, because they found new calcs.  I am now going in for a surgical biopsy on Tuesday.  I had a surgical biopsy and two lumpectomies in 4+ weeks this summer and just do not want to do this.

Does anyone have experience with this?  Was it more DCIS?  Benign?

Thank you so much...

Julie

Crap Julie, that sucks.  I have not had this experience (though I was worried about it).  Good luck to you.

I've no experience either.  I know some things are also done a bit different in the UK but I was told that I wouldn't get another mammo for a year as there would be no point doing one post lumpectomy as it would just look horrible due to scar tissue etc.

Hope all goes well for you x

i had my first mammo 6 months after surgery and they found new calcifications(linear)  had a sterotactic and it was benign, mri showed nothing else.  per mo-calcifications are common post radiation/surgery

gee, sounds like me!  RO called me after I had gotten my tatoos and apologised as he had delayed reading my pre rad mamo

    it showed junk

it was a crazy time as we needed to do another lumpie, heal and then start rads.....new tatoes of course

mine may have been caused by me in part as my BS (best in state) is not part of the hospital that I chose for the rads and my onco

worked out in the end, 4 years all clear

I am so glad to read these responses and appreciate your support and insights.

It makes sense that surgery could cause calcs, because they are the result of any breast tissue change, but I worry because my BS (Mass General) feels so strongly that she needs to biopsy them.  It is just so hard to be back in the surgery and waiting game.

It's a weird new reality when I wish I were starting radiation.

this is the new norm for us,they don't want to take any chances missing something. march 2011 ,i have microcytic anemia with no symtoms,-new md says probably your normal,we will just watch.  june 2011 post dcis .we better make sure there's nothing there so better have egd /colonoscopy! which were both negative
