Has anyone heard about the benefits of Iodine and its deficiency of it causes problems??? A friend of my DH gave us a book on it and I haven't read it but my DH says the things they talk about is feasible... Just wondering if anyone here has knowledge about it??

I have not done much looking into this at all, but now I will. I had always heard that it's practically impossible to be deficient because of it being in salt and how many foods have salt. However we are all trying to eat more healthy. Maybe its more possible to be deficient these days. Thanks, I'm going to do some research.

Alot of the salt isn't iodized these days and plus most of us, especially us with lymphedema, need to stay away from salt... The US banned high doses of it because it can be used in the making of meth and other recreational drugs, so it is very hard to get. I'm just starting to read this book.. They link it to my thyroid problems and other issues...

Right, most salt is NOT iodized any more. And more of us are eating sea salt, which also isn't iodized. Hain Naturals makes iodized sea salt, that's what I use most of the time unless I am using smoked sea salt.
