netty 46: one thing I would add to Luah's comments is that sometimes a new primary may have different receptor status than the original cancer diagnosis.  Rarely, a recurrence might morph to a different receptor status.  Either way, it is important to have the receptor status for both new primary or recurrence tested as it COULD make a difference in treatment options.

Prayers for all of us TNBC beauties!!!  :-)

It has proven difficult for me to get beyond the mortality statistics for my recent mets diagnosis.  My Onc was mortified when mets showed up in my liver, T1 & T12, right hip (iliac wing and acetebulum) and sternum...I think he was more crushed than we were (that's how wonderful he is!!!) and trust me, we were crushed.  I have had a very short disease free interval...dx right breast with 3 + nodes in November 2010, 1st recurrence in the skin between my breats in December 2011 (2 days before Christmas), 2nd recurrence February 2012 in left nodes, 3rd recurrence July 2012 with mets.

I am very lucky that the 12 rounds of weekly Taxol (BRUTAL!!!) combined with bi-weekly Avastin has worked.  My most recent scan showed that all my originaly mets lesions are gone(PRAISE GOD!!! Innocent) AND it also showed my lungs, spleen, pancreas and adrenal glands are clear.  The ownly downer is that I have a new spot in my left hip.  I will gladly take a bone met over a major organ met.  My Onc said we can work with bones and that made me happy.

I love hearing about those of you who are living longer lives...gives me such hope.  Especially since not only am I TNBC, I am also BRCA2 positive.

Prayers for all of us TNBC beauties!!!  :-)

MomGeo: Great post. Although you've been through so much, it's is really wonderful to hear your organ mets were obliterated. Sounds like you have a great doc too.

Momgeo it does not gave different receptor status. But yes this ugly thing came back after 12 yrs. Scanned recently clear thank god. Every scan under the moon. What state are you in and what hospital treats you? Did you choose double Masectomy? Is that the best way to go?
