Or, no Tamoxifen? The recommendation at my original consultation at the local hospital was that I would get it for 5 years. My oncologist at Mass General is leaning towards me not getting it after consulting with the tumor board and dra who specialize in this area. Anyone else have experience with this?

    Hello Sduch

I have similar stats to you - ER-, weakly PR positive (5%) and HER2+- and my oncologist wants me to go on Arimidex in a few weeks' time. It's Arimidex rather than Tamoxifen for me because I am post-menopausal.

His thinking is that it is extremely rare to be totally ER- and there is some research to indicate that PR can be reduced with hormonals as well.

I think I'm going to for the hormonal treatment...

    Good luck with the decision.

    Alice

Thanks Alice--I just sent an email to my oncologist asking her to call me to discuss it. I have no idea what to do.

Dont think i have heard of tamoxifen for er- and that is very interesting about not being completely er- . I am on tamoxifen (im er+) and after the first few days, which were tough but not umbearable, its not bad at all. Few mood swings and the odd crying day, but other than that really nothing. And hey, we have bc apparently we r entitled to cry :-)

good luck with whatever you and your dr decide.
