Last Friday, my sister and best friend got her biopsy report back, which showed invasive carcinoma II/III -- what does this mean? She is 55 yrs old. Was on Estrogen therapy for a histerectomy she had years ago.

It said architectural II, nuclear (nucleus size) grade III, mitotic rate grade I.  In fibrous breast tissue, the tumor infiltrates as individual cells, cords, cell nests. Focal intermediate grade DCIS is present.

Progesterone and Estrogen levels in cells strongly present. In otherwards, estrogen feeds this cancer.

size of tumor is 1.4 cm.

Ductal carcinoma in situ, 1. focal intermediate grade DCIS, cribiform type, is present but not extensive.

Immunhistochemical stains show tumor cells to be focally positive for E-cadherin. This staining pattern may suggest a tubulo-lobular differentiation of the tumor.

they did not do a biopsy of lymph nodes, so don't know how that will turn out. But Thursday we go for an MRI to see if it has spread. Also, there is another knot in the other breast the size of a quarter, and drainage has started in it too!

Does anyone have a similar dx as this one?
