Getting through obstacles and staying positive.

Feeling depressed lately and this forum is the only therapy I can turn to. It feels like my life is full of obstacles and no matter how much I try to stay positive, it's so difficult. Ever since my diagnosis, the emotional and financial burden have been overwhelming. Breast cancer diagnosis, lawsuit against me from an automobile accident, in the process of losing our second home which we invested our life savings, I can go on and on. I don't know how much one person can handle. I guess I should stop feeling sorry for myself and be thankful to be alive. I could use some prayers.

I have been far more fortunate than you, but once when my first husband and I couldn't find a job, and we had both been in school and I had had two babies in two and a half years, (no insurance) and felt that we owed everyone we knew, a pastor said in a sermon that in difficult times we should hand our troubles over to God and let Him worry about it. That helped.
A friend mentioned that we should go to Florida where they needed teachers (1963), so we packed the babies, and dog and drove down, and camped in a woods sleeping in the back of a station wagon. After a week of looking with a lot of disappointments, we both found jobs, drove back to Tennessee, packed everything in a UHawl, and moved to Florida. Somehow, we paid off the loans and got on our feet, and until he died of a sudden heart attack when the youngest was 17, we had good lives.
You are in my prayers.
This Great Recession has harmed so many innocent people who did nothing wrong. You have a lot of company. Believe it or not, we are in recovery. It has been improving, and things will get better. Take care.
We are all so sorry you are going through this. It is difficult to see through the lies, but given a very few years, Obama Care would make it possible for almost all legal citizens to have insurance--or we go to the single payer which would be like medicare for all. NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO BE SO TERRIBLY WORRIED ABOUT PAYING FOR MEDICAL CARE WHEN GOING THROUGH THIS. I have both Medicare and Military Tricare--so no worries there, but all should have basic coverage.

Dahlia, I don't have any quick solutions, but I think i read somewhere on this site that there is financial assistance out there for medical bills related to breast cancer. You might also look into counseling through a social worker at your hospital or maybe a clergy person... You're carrying some huge burdens now and it might help to have someone to talk to about all of this regularly. There have been times in my life when too much stress became overwhelming and I did get counseling to help me get through. Being diagnosed with breast cancer was one of those times and I'm thankful that i took the steps to get help.I will certainly pray for you too! Hugs, Jenifer

Cindi,
Thank you so much for your encouraging words. I really do believe that we all have a purpose in life and as hard as it is to understand, I know there has to be a reason that we are going through this. I just have to put my trust in God. You were my guardian angel tonight because you made me feel so much better. -
Dahlia.....you are in my prayers also. As I read your post it reminded me of a verse...Romans 8:28. Life is hard at times but these difficulties will work together for our good and His glory. This is hard to grasp at times but our faith in God will see us through. Just remember that that there is not one thing about this that He doesn't already know about. God Bless You!!!
